Cancun Wedding...Da Bomb!

I am finally back from the first Simply Mumtaz Wedding in Cancun, Mexico. It was one of the best weddings I have ever planned or seen (if I do say so myself). They keep getting better and better and I have the best job. Traveling to such a beautiful destination, working with such a cool family and helping create the perfect wedding weekend was awesome. Many guests came up to me, Gabriela and Angie to tell us what a great time they had and how wonderful the experience was.

Starting with a welcome dinner on the beach with fire dancers, capoeira and fresh cut coconuts; followed by a fleet of boats to transport guests to the Friday night party where they were greeted by shots of the finest Mexican tequila and Kool & The Gang’s “Celebration” blaring, each night was phenomenon. There was even a personal serenade for the bride and groom featuring a line in the song about me!

Planning an Indian wedding in Mexico posed several challenges. However, the vibrant colors of Cancun complimented the saris and shervanis and the festive local vibe enhanced the ambiance of each event. The gorgeous beachside wedding ceremony featured color-coordinated parasols to protect guests from the sun, a mango and pistachio sorbet intermezzo and a surprise airplane fly-by with a banner congratulating the couple. The finale was the Saturday night wedding reception with the perfect balance of Mexican flair and Indian tradition. The hacienda-style ballroom was the perfect setting for a family-style meal of authentic Indian cuisine (hard to come by in Mexico!). The most dynamic Bollywood singer wooed the crowd and brought a surprising twist to the evening.

The images here are from a wonderful photographer who took some shots on behalf of the resort (Rich, you rock!). The event photographers are taking a little extra R&R time in Cancun and will have some images for me to post in a couple of weeks. Enjoy! - Karli
