Simply Mumtaz at TSE Atlanta

So, we've been so busy we've finally downloaded some of the photos from TSE in Atlanta. After being pracically snowed in at the airport the day of departure! We sat on the plane for 3 hours waiting to get de-iced! Karli in the meantime left early that morning for her Cancun planning trip! But, here's us enjoying the snow and me loven the Coca-Cola Polar Bear!

Simply Mumtaz - GMIC Vancouver!

Simply Mumtaz at Green Meeting Industry Council Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia!

This was such a whirlwind week... We had our ISES February Green Special Events program on Tuesday (which I will post pics as soon as I get them), then flew to Vancouver for Wednesday's conference sessions! It was truly an international affair. Green is growing, it's not only a trend, but a new way of doing business. We had folks from all over the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Japan. There was so much information and the sessions were great! I'm so proud to be a member of GMIC and also to sit on the ISES International's newly formed Green Advisory Council. There is truly such a need for some Green guidelines/standards to hold those accountable for claiming Green and also just for those wanting to get started on Greening their practices. Everyone is talking long term about possibly creating a Green Certification... I'm on board.

Last year, I was in Montreal for the ISES Eventworld Conference and it was gorgeous. The people were great and it's definitely on my "go back to" lists. Vancouver was just as friendly, clean and refreshing... at least from what I saw from my day visit and my view out the 22nd floor of the Four Season's Hotel. I have to admit... I even bought a Maple Leaf Oh Canada T-Shirt! :)

Cancun, Here We Come!

I am thrilled to be planning our first international destination wedding in Cancun, Mexico. April 19th will be the wedding day for one of my favorite couples, Shefali & Akash. Not only are they both hilarious characters, they are fun to be around and a pleasure to work with. I had the pleasure of also meeting the bride’s mom & dad during a Planning Trip to the wedding resort last month (also lovely people!) Since both the bride & groom are South Asian and there have been no South Asian weddings at the beautiful resort they selected, the Planning Trip was a necessity. We were able to get a clear idea of what each event would involve, the overall ambiance of the venues and how the local cuisine would tie into the menus. Check out the magnificent beach that the ceremony will take place on. Awe-Some! I spent my last afternoon in Cancun scouting for a henna artist for the bridal mehndi and watching boats go by on the water. For the henna, I decided a demonstration would be the best way to determine if the artist I met could handle the multi-hour job of Shefali’s bridal mehndi. He did a great job! Too bad I didn’t get my feet adorned with henna before taking the last shot! Hmmm…I didn’t realize how much the boat I was shooting looks like a school bus on the water. We might have to use that for something during the wedding weekend…

Don't Hate Us Because We Are In Vogue

Simply Mumtaz Events is in Vogue! It's a small byline, but we are in VOGUE. A beautiful photo from our first photo shoot at one of my favorite wedding venues in Downtown Los Angeles, Vibiana is featured with a reference to our "Dream Team" of designer extraordinaire Rrivre Davies and photographer fabuloso Michael Norwood. The photo shoot gave us an opportunity to be as creative as we wanted and to design some truly unique, conceptual tablescapes. We now share these images with our clients for inspiration for their events.

In addition to being one of the most creative endeavors of 2007 for me, the photo shoot was the introduction of Gabriela Islas to Simply Mumtaz. She worked her tail off for us that day as a volunteer and both Joella and I clicked with her. We loved her tenacity, character and work ethic so much that she is now part of the Simply Mumtaz team. (Gaby, you rock!)

Photos of the other tables from the shoot, including the Eco-Chic table and the Purple Passion table, are destined to be published soon.

Grace Ormonde / Vogue!

Hey everyone. Thought we would post... We had an absolutely terrific time Wednesday night at Roy's Downtown. We meet up with indsutry counterparts, Michael Norwood, one of the best photographers in town - M.Norwood Photography, Rrivre and Oge from Rrivre Works, Anika from Vibiana... to celebrate our double page spread of our feature table top in Grace Ormonde Magazine! This was the team that put it together. Not to mention the same photo has also just appeared in this month's Vogue!
