SEARCH Foundation - Event Peeps Supporting Each Other in Times of Crisis

The mission of SEARCH foundation is to support event professionals challenged with a catastrophe. If you missed it - check out their latest newsletter! Get involved and email us if you want to show your support. Our next big showcase event will be in Nashville at The Special Event Show January 2014.

Mumtaz Marketing & Events was proud of being part of the SEARCH Foundation 2013 fundraiser, where our own president Joella Hopkins is on the foundation board.  At the beginning of the year Mumtaz Marketing & Events was present at the Chicago Marriott Hotel, where SEARCH foundation gathered over 200 guests in what was an extremely successful event, raising $55,000 through ticket sales, auctions during the event and individual and corporate donations.  Definitely a night to remember that will have a major impact on the lives of the recipients who absolutely need it.  This event would not have been possible without the participation of Rentals Unlimited, Island Events and New York Water Taxi.  Thank you all and let’s gear up for the next SEARCH foundation event!!!!!

Mumtaz Reports In ISES EventWorld 2012 Dallas

Hey everyone. So, we had a fabulous time at ISES (International Special Events Society) EventWorld Conference this past week in Dallas. Here are some pics and Jenn's highlights. The conference was all about celebrating our past 25 years as an organization and looking forward towards the next 25 years of creativity, connecting, and inspiring. The opening general session recognized 22 of our past 25 ISES International Presidents! Wow, what an amazing show of continued support.
Then we headed to the SEARCH event... It was great celebrating their 15th Anniversary of helping those special events industry colleagues in times of crisis and need. Please LIKE the SEARCH Foundation on Facebook or FOLLOW them on Twitter @SEARCHFound.
So, we also visited Gilley's! Tons of fun learning a bit of line dancing! Yes, both Jenn and Joella had some fun taking their turn learning a bit Country... LOL. But, upon arriving we were greeted by these Cowgirls on longhorns. Didn't even know you could saddle them like horses...  You go girls!
Of course at Gilley's we had to stop and take some green screen photos provided by Catch the Moment.
The conference closed with the Esprit Awards. What a blast! The team that produced the Conference should be very excited about their hard work. It all paid off and everyone is still talking about the education sessions, networking, and fun times. Here's Joella and Jennifer upon arriving at the Esprits!
We also loved Cort's super cool dance floor at Club ISES! Great idea and tons of fun to dance on! Logos, designs, etc. all on the super fantastic dance floor.
Joella got to spend some quality time with Ruth Moyte - fellow ISES International Marketing & Communications committee. Here's to creating new professional and personal working relationships!
We have to give a special shout out to the Esprit Awards team for their hard work. Everyone loved the whole booth effect! It was really fun... We can't wait to use the concept. Those folks that were seated on the perimeter of the event felt special because the whole booth effect made them feel a part of the event and not just the last in the row...

Here's a little highlight wrap report from Jenn!

What can I say about my trip to ISES Eventworld……other than it was one of the best experiences at a conference that I have had!  It was such a learning experience and an inspiration to me.  ISES Eventworld’s Leadership Training for the ISES chapter boards was  training that I was looking forward to.  From the team building exercises, the individual tools for board members they gave to hearing of the same challenges that other board members faced, this past week was an eye opening experience.  I am looking forward to sharing what I learned with my team here in LA and moving our ISES LA chapter onward and upward.   I made lots of new connections and built new friendships that spans the globe!

I discovered new technology at this conference that I was really excited about.   From new style twitter feeds from Red Button ... Here's a shot from Joella and I at the event that we tweeted using the event hashtag - not only was it displayed on the event screen but it was instantly printed at a print station that was branded with event and sponsor logos...
to Award Winning 3D Mapping Technology from architecture.com to LED spherical used for stage props to a very cool touch screen DJing equipment called the Emulator, it is amazing how technology is changing the very fabric of what we do.  Yes, a lot of the technology isn’t cheap, but it is the WOW factor that so many of us planners are always shooting for, especially when it comes to an event that we have done year after year.  I am looking forward to one day being able to use the technology that is available to us in one of our events.
Ok, that's all folks from the Mumtaz gals!

SME donates Wedding Coordination for Breast Cancer Survivor

On August, 28, 2010, Simply Mumtaz Events was proud to partner with The Spiraled Stem for the wedding of Binh Phan, the winner of The Say ‘I Do’ With a Big ‘Do Contest. This contest was for women who lost their hair to breast cancer treatment. The winning prize was a wedding day package worth over $16,000! Her wedding was held on August 28, 2010 at the San Pedro Doubletree Hotel. The Spiraled Stem Floral Design provided VeriFlora Certified Sustainably Grown Flowers valued at over $2,000. They were absolutely stunning! Breast cancer survivor Binh Phan of Garden Grove, had no family history of breast cancer and was unexpectedly diagnosed in 2008 at the tender age of 21. She was facing rounds of harsh treatments that would surely result in hair loss and other unpleasant side effects. Boyfriend, Dean Blanton not only stood by her, he asked her to be his wife and spend their lives together, through sickness and in health. “Winning this contest means the world to me,” says Binh. I want my husband to see me on our wedding day as the most beautiful woman he has ever laid eyes on, and for the world to see that I have fought, overcome, and am a survivor that won’t be defeated.” Beautiful Linens donated by Wildflower Linens, valued at $1500.

Eco-friendly seeded paper menu cards and place cards; guests were able to plant the entire menu card after the event and grow native wildflowers in pots or their garden, they are 100% compostable and provided by Petalos di Pauli, valued at $700.

Photo Booth provided by J & M Entertainment & Event Production, valued at $2,000, the hit of the reception! The beautiful Bride and her Mom taking a photo that they will never forget!
Ceremony music provided by Me & AJ, valued at $500.

Spectacular photography provided by Luminaire Images, valued at $2,500. Molly and Matt did a phenomenal job! They had a slide show ready of photos from the day's events for guests to watch as they were going back and forth from the bar, photo booth and dinner.
The following are a list of vendors who contributed their time and business to the wedding, complimentary to Binh and Dean!
A personalized bra fitting and wedding day lingerie set by The Sculpted Silhouette, including the bra pocket, valued at $100; Foot Petals Runaway Bride Gift Set, valued at $45; Chivari Chair Rentals, valued at $1,200.
Thank you again to all of the vendors for helping create this special day for a couple who were very deserving!
Congratulations to the happy Bride & Groom!

Help Us - Operation Blankets of Love

Hey everybody! The Simply Mumtaz team has been posting on Facebook and Twitter that we are working hard to raise old towels and blankets for Operation Blankets of Love. If you are interested, please give us a holler or stop by our offices to donate. We will be dropping off our donations on December 15th.

Operation Blankets of Love: Help save the planet and the lives of homeless animals by donating recyclable blankets, towels and other comfort items. Studies have shown that shelter animals given blankets and comforters relax, feel happy, safe, secure and warm. Being comfortable in a more home-like setting increases their chances of being adopted.

Please help us raise towels and blankets! We look forward to seeing you ~ arms filled with goodies!

Happy Holidays!
