Fun Mumtaz Team Shots @ LA Streetcar Event!

Yes - we've been a bit MIA! We've got so much going on that we've been busy crazy getting everything planned... but, now it's becoming all about execution. So, here are some fun team shots at our first real event of the Fall season - LA Streetcar's "Taste of Streetcar" at the Cooper Design Building in Downtown LA. The photos of the event are on their way and we are thrilled to get our little hands on them. Big things are happening this fall - I hope you can feel our excitement! It's going to be BIG! ISES Annual Awards and Installation Dinner - SME Shines Bright!

This past week we had a phenomenal night at the ISES: Los Angeles Annual Awards and Installation Dinner at Pandora on Green in Pasadena. The entire Simply Mumtaz team was there, with some family members in tow, to support Jennifer Minzey, the incoming VP of Programs and Education on the ISES board.
The event was coordinated by our own Jennifer Minzey. With the help of J&M Entertainment, Classic Party Rentals, Chameleon Chairs, Town and Country Rentals, Wisteria Lane, Elegant Designs & Speciality Linens, Leonard Neil Productions, Red Carpet Event Staff, Tiffany & Co, and GLI Video Production, she put on this fabulous event!

The night turned into the "Ms. Jennifer Minzey show" according to current President Ron Hobbs. Not only did she put the entire event together, she also took home some very special awards. She walked away with the President's Award and the Marty McGowan Scholarship. We're so proud of her!
It was a great night for Simply Mumtaz as well! We were nominated for three awards and won the Best Allied Team award for our work on the Treasures of Los Angeles awards luncheon. All in all, it was a night full of celebration. We are so honored to have been a part of this event and look forward to next year! Thanks to Luminaire Images for the wonderful event photos!

Introducing our new Events Assistant Jenny Anderson!

Hiya! It's Joella. Hope this post finds everyone super fantastic this Friday! I'm thrilled to make this post. It is my pleasure to introduce you to our new Events Assistant. Jenny came to us as an intern and was my Shining Star! I can't wait to watch her grow into an extraordinary planner! If you see her at any of our upcoming industry events, please introduce yourself. You'll love her just as much as we love having her a part of the Simply Mumtaz team!

Here is a little bit from Jenny herself...

I am beyond excited to take on the position of Events Assistant at SME! After working as an Intern for a few wedding and special events companies in both Colorado and California, (including Simply Mumtaz) I have learned that I love this industry! I am looking forward to learning more about event design and execution as well as having the opportunity to be creative. I have been waiting for the opportunity to take on a larger role and I couldn't have asked for a better company to work for!

I have already been able to learn a lot just by watching Joella and Jennifer at work and am eager to learn more! I am so excited to see what the future holds.

Simply Mumtaz heads to Portland for the Green Meetings Industry Council's Annual Conference

Hey everybody! We, your Simply Mumtaz team, are very excited to be headed to Portland this coming weekend. We will be attending the Green Meetings Industry Council's Annual Conference from Feb. 20 - 23rd. We are looking forward to keeping up on Green, learning new "greening" activities for special events, conference, and meetings, in addition to networking with other "greenies". Getting Your Messaging Across This Valentine’s Day!

So, we wanted to post an update for you on what we think is a super fantastic idea. As so many of us know there is a trend in marketing your businesses – not to send traditional holiday greetings. Many organizations are starting pick another holiday to spend their time and funds on to stand out from the rest – basically be remembered for something special.

Last year, we sent Halloween greetings! They were so well received that we are excited that this year we are doing, you guessed it – Valentine’s Day! Now tell me who doesn’t love their clients. So, we are going to be them some L.O.V.E. this Valentine’s Day. We are going to be sending each of our clients a dozen roses with a special note simply saying – “We Love Our Clients!” Thank you for your business. Let’s face it – who doesn’t want a dozen red roses on Valentines?

Our first attempt at identifying ourselves at being different was sending special Dia de Los Muertos celebration “Calaveras”. Simply Mumtaz’ President is Mexican and along with our customized Calaveras with “Mumtaz” on them we sent a ghoulish poem explaining why they were getting the gift and what it stood for… It created such a wonderful buzz!
After our wonderful Dia de Los Muertos celebration we decided on Halloween and did a more mass mailing… We wanted to also highlight that we are a Green company as well so we just added it into the cover. Overall it was successful, but did not have as much impact as the specialized short list the year before. In marketing your company – always find a creative and unique way to rise above the rest and send the message you want to send. Stay true to your company’s culture and the rest will fall right into place!

A formal introduction... Jennifer Minzey, Event Coordinator

So, I was reviewing our blog and noticed that Jennifer Minzey, Event Coordinator here at Simply Mumtaz Events, Inc. has never been formally introduced to you all. But, more importantly has earned this special post. Jennifer has been with the team now for over a year now. She started with us part-time and now is an official member of the Mumtaz'tic team. She has made outstanding contributions and is also currently working towards her CSEP designation. She is a current member of the ISES LA Programs and Communications committee. She brings with her a wealth of Pasadena Food Bowl experience which attracts more than 25,000 attendees. We are proud to have her on board and look forward to many more events, successes and laughs.

So, we were at the Joint Hospitality Industry Holiday Party at Hangar 8 and LA Photo Party had a very cool booth, showcasing their wares. Joella, Karli and Jennifer (our "new girl") took some crazy shots! We thought we'd share our goofy'ness with ya'll.

Halloween Update: 1st Place in Costume Contest

Check out the additional pics from our antics at the ISES-LA Halloween Bash. The party turned out to be this year's best Halloween fun for us since most of us didn't even have any trick-or-treaters on Halloween!

Sparks Game with My Flower Guy

Last night I had the best time at the Sparks basketball game cheering for our Los Angeles WNBA team, eating ice cream and hanging out with Doyle. At least it was the best time until they lost the game in overtime. It was a heartbreaker! Doyle with "My Flower Guy", my friend, florist and fellow special event professional, is a season ticket holder with center-court seats right behind the owners. During one of the breaks, the Sparks management team presented three beautiful purple & gold flower arrangements (compliments of My Flower Guy) to honorees who give back to the city of Los Angeles and their communities. It was very cool. Even cooler is that we shared our cheering section with comedian Wanda Sykes. She was equally disappointed about the loss. Thanks, Doyle for a great date at The Staples Center!

So, I'm stoked. At a recent event that we planned, I had time enough to stop and take a photo with our keynote speaker, Former Prime Minister Tony Blair! Isn't this cool. How many people get to say they planned an event for, but how many then also get to say and I have a picture with him... :) Nah, don't I get to brag a bit??

Stay tuned... I'm just about to jump on the plane to Dubai and Abu Dhabi for 13 days! I previously posted about the conferences I'll be attending. I'll post as I can download some cool photos. Stay tuned.
