Just a little Ground Breaking! Greenland USA's Metropolis Project in DTLA
Talk about a whirlwind project! It's was three weeks of let's "Make it Happen!" We were very excited to be working with the new big project in town... the Greenland USA's Metropolis project. The Ground Breaking Ceremony took place literally on the first day of construction! It was truly a ground breaking - as we closed the event construction crews began to come on to the lot! Since it was a morning event we planned to load in as much as possible the day before... including the construction vehicles that we were using as a backdrop for the dirt digging ceremony. And, Joella had to take a moment to play...
Ok, so back to serious. Last minute signage going up! Greenland USA is a part of Greenland Group based out of Shanghai, China. Luckily, Mumtaz President has a background working with Asian client's as there was a cultural and language learning curve. It was very exciting working with new people on a fabulous new project in DTLA. So, the event details... we wanted to try to keep the company and project logos prominent in everything because not only was this an event to introduce the project to the community, but also the company. The project
is the 1st phase of the $1-billion dollar venture constructed on the
vast parking lot along the Harbor Freeway, just north of Staples Center
and L.A. Live. This major endeavor includes the future home for a
38-story residential skyscraper and a luxury hotel, altering L.A.’s
skyline. Dignitaries who attended the ceremony enjoyed an American
breakfast and an Asian-inspired breakfast, champagne and entertainment. Catering was provided by Someone's In the Kitchen - all we can say is ROCKSTAR service! Amazing!
It was kinda like the magic hour when it hit 945am - We started the procession of the two Chinese Dancing Lions. It's always wonderful to see in person - it takes a team to put together a truly exciting and heart pounding (to the drums) performance. East Wind Youth Group... Outstanding.... So, they started at Registration and moved into the event to perform the traditional good will blessing!
Our Greenland USA CEO, I Fei Chang and Greenland Group CEO Mr. Zhang preparing to make their offering to the lions.
After the formal remarks we unveiled the "dirt digging" stage... It was tons of fun to watch the over 40+ media outlets push for position. So proud of our team - our PR rep, Christie, rocked the house!
In addition to other dignitaries - above are Greenland USA CEO, I Fei Chang, Central City Association's President, Carol Schatz, L.A. City Councilmember Jose Huizar, Greenland Group CEO Mr. Zhang, Mayor Garcetti's Deputy Mayor Kelly Bernard, and LA Chamber President Gary Toebben.
Afterwards guests were invited to head a block away to view the full model of the project in Greenland USA's new Los Angeles office. Media were also invited to conduct their full interviews in their new conference rooms.
We have to give a special shout out to our team! 1st to the amazing Kristi Schoenrock at A Rental Connection. You always pull magic out of thin air for us! Thank you... Can't forget our vendor partners too: Jorge - J&M Entertainment, Flo - Red Carpet Systems, Kent - Z Valet, Mike - M2 Printing, Emily Ivey and Earl Gibson - Photography, Joann Roth Oseary - Someone's In The Kitchen, Jaime - Draken Security, and Shereen - Wisteria Lane Florals.

Mayor Eric Garcetti at the Orpheum!
We were proud to produce yet another event in Downtown Los Angeles featuring the still new Mayor of the City of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti
at the beautiful and historic Orpheum Theatre this past October.
This event introduced the new Mayor of Los Angeles to the business community in an intimate environment. After the VIP Reception, Steve Nissen of NBC Universal shared a few fun Hollywood facts about the Mayor while introducing him, including his big screen debut as LA's mayor!
The Mayor was open and candid with his speech. He
talked about the changes that would be coming to Downtown Los Angeles
and how we was proud to be a part of the ever changing landscape that
the Revitalization of Downtown has offered.
One of the biggest topics of the morning was
homelessness and how to combat it over the next few years. It is a topic that encouraged lively
discussions throughout the audience. It
will be an interesting to see the next chapter of what Downtown L.A. will go
through with its new Mayor.
And. of course you can never miss an opportunity to take a pic with the Mayor. Here's a few of the heavy hitters in DTLA taking their pic!

Mumtaz at the 2013 L.A. Elected Officials Reception
This past July, Mumtaz had the pleasure of
putting together the 2013 Elected Officials Reception at the Omni Los Angeles
Hotel with delicious food and great drinks, all at the beat of 80’s music. Certainly
a soirée to remember with about 500 guests!
Most business leaders of
the Downtown LA area joined us for this event, where they got to meet the newly
elected and re-elected Los Angeles City Officials. Between the attendees were
California State Senators Kevin de Leon and Alex Padilla; California State
Assembly Members Raul Bocanegra, Adrin Nazarian and Reginald Jones-Sawyer, Sr;
L.A. County Board of Supervisors Zev Yaroslavsky; LA City Attorney Mike Feuer and LA City Controller Ron Galperin.
It was a great opportunity
to network, get to know our current elected officials and hear directly from
them what innovative ideas are yet to take place in our beautiful city. Thank
you to Ch2M Hill, Chase, Thomas Properties Group, Walmart, Arcadis, CaliforniaApartment Association, Comcast NBC Universal, Mayer Brown, Microsoft, Siemens
and State Farm for sponsoring the event.
Mumtaz would like to give
special thanks to Red Carpet Systems, Kathy Faulk, Elaine Morales and Catherine
Gibson from the Omni Hotel for helping make this event a great success.
Stay tuned for more Mumtaz
news to come!

Wow! It's all about the Let's Move California Fitness Feria
Hey everyone! Mumtaz Marketing & Events had the privledge of working the official launch of the Let's Move California campaign in conjunction with the Fitness Feria & the FAME Foundation. It was a fun filled day of activities for the local community from climbing a rock wall provided by the U.S. Army, Wolfgang Puck, White House Chef Sam Kass, Latino favorite Ingrid Hoffman giving healthy cooking demonstrations, Rugby, Basketball, Tennis, Cheer, Cycling, Taek Won Do interactive stations, Early Childhood focused activities, L.A. Sparks "Sparky" pics, and much more! Besides actual physical activities we also provided community members information both in Spanish and English related to living an active and healthy life.
Sylvia Acevedo (Commissioner on the President's Advisory Commission on Education Excellence for Hispanics) with other event organizers cut the ribbon to open the event...
Hundreds of soccer and basketballs were given to those that completed their event passports!
Watching kids tumble for the first time was exciting... Especially watching their eyes light up as they realized they could roll or do a front roll.

ExchangeLA & ISES LA!
Hi everyone! It's Jennifer Minzey and as your ISES LA VP of Programs and Education I'm excited to blog about ExchangeLA and ISES LA! On August 17th, the ISES LA Chapter was fortunate enough to have their August meeting held at the historic and newly renovated Exchange LA, the original home of the Los Angeles Stock Exchange Building. This meeting was a departure from the regular networking event, as WISE GUYS EVENTS came in and "played" with our crowd with both individual and team building activities. We also had the pleasure of having LA Spice Catering, Lisa & Mo, and the Nickel Diner share their delectable treats with us that evening. Thank you to all who came out, I really appreciate it.
But, nothing could have prepared me for the first time that I walked into Exchange LA. WOW!!! These were the first words that came to mind when visiting the venue. Just some history for you, ground was broken on this art-deco building on October 21, 1929, just three days before Black Thursday. The Los Angeles Stock Exchange merged with the Pacific Stock Exchange in 1956 and trading took place until 1986. Since then, the building remained largely unoccupied. After nearly two years of renovation and retrofitting, Exchange LA now pays homage to its rich and opulent past.
From the outside it looks like the other old buildings in Downtown LA. But, once you walk through the doors, it is an eye opening experience to a whole different style of venue. From the state of the art sound system to the lighting to the sheer massiveness of the space--spanning over 25,000 square feet and four floors, this venue can offer an array of possibilities. Hosting a small crowd in one of their really cool suites to hosting over 1,000 people in their main area, Exchange LA offers something unique, something for that creative and fun planner who is looking for something different.
Thank you to Luminaire Images for all the great shots of that evening!
